Join Mintel's Asia Pacific Trends Manager, Elysha Young, as she dissects the shifts in how consumers are living their lives, and how these shifts offer both opportunity and urgency – remaining relevant has never been more important.

ICMSF opinion on SARS-CoV-2 and its relationship to food safety

11.50am Dr. Martin Cole, Head, School of Agriculture Food & Wine, University of Adelaide

Dr Martin Cole is currently the Chair of International Commission on Microbiological Specifications for Foods (ICMSF). ICMSF released an opinion on SARS-CoV-2 and its relationship to food safety on the 3rd September 2020 and Martin will summarise the important findings of this report.

Food and Agribusiness Innovation Trends for the new normal – How SME’s are pivoting post crisis

James will summarise how SMEs of the Australian Food and Agribusiness sector pivoted as a result of the events of Summer 2019-20. A summary of the innovation themes and trends from Food Innovation Australia Ltd: Black Summer Innovation Fund applications and the primary business drivers that contributed to them.    

Digital disruption of food manufacturing post COVID-19

12.30pm Filip Janakievski, Team Leader – Food Engineering, CSIRO Agriculture & Food

The evolution of digital solutions and products for the manufacturing sector has been unprecedented in recent times and the Industry 4.0 suite of digital technologies have provided the opportunity to gain better oversight of operations, ensure greater traceability, monitor the health of machines and allow real time decision making.   This presentation will explore some of the concepts that could enable growth and strengthen the sustainability of the food manufacturing sector by harnessing the potential of Industry 4.0 enabling technologies to reshape food processing and to increase food safety, quality and process efficiency in the post pandemic normal.
