The AIFST Foodbank Hunger Hero Award 2026

This award acknowledges extraordinary efforts to address food insecurity in Australia. Whether it’s championing a new initiative within a company or volunteering time and expertise in the community, AIFST and Foodbank want to recognise an individual or team contribution and hold them up as an inspiration to others.

The Foodbank Hunger Hero award winners for 2026 are Andrew Borg and Bill Heague from Mars Food and Nutrition.

For more than two decades, Mars Food & Nutrition Australia has been a trusted partner of Foodbank Australia, supporting communities experiencing food insecurity since 2002.

Mars has made an outstanding contribution through product donations and its strong support of Foodbank’s Collaborative Supply Program. From the program’s early stages, the Mars team has demonstrated what can be achieved when industry works together — investing time and resources, engaging suppliers and advocating across its network to help the program grow.

The impact has been significant. Through the Collaborative Supply Program, Mars’ contribution has increased from 135,000 kilograms in 2022 to more than 320,000 kilograms in 2026 — a growth of almost 140 per cent in four years. Mars Food & Nutrition Australia exemplifies true community partnership, combining generosity, collaboration and leadership to help deliver millions of meals to Australians experiencing hardship.
