AIFST Emerging Leader Award 2026

This award was created as a means of celebrating the accomplishments, leadership potential and commitment of a younger food scientist and/or technologist within the Australian agrifood sector.

The 2026 award winner is Nikunj Naliyadhara, The University of New South Wales.

This year's recipient, Nikunj Naliyadhara has already established an impressive record of achievement early in his career. Through innovative research in non-thermal food processing technologies, including ultrasound-assisted processing and sustainable drying methods, Nikunj is helping to develop practical solutions that improve food quality and manufacturing efficiency.

His strong publication record, commitment to teaching and mentoring, leadership within the university community, and active engagement with AIFST exemplify the qualities of an emerging leader. His passion for advancing food science, combined with his ability to inspire and collaborate with others, makes him a highly deserving recipient of the 2026 AIFST Emerging Leader Award.
