Career Evenings are a great way for the Institute to connect established industry professionals with those looking to enter the sector.

The evenings are not just useful for students and graduates but can be helpful for those tranisitioning across from another industry.

In June, supported by William Angliss Institute we were pleased to hold a Food Science Careers Night for our Victorian members and guests.
Not only was it encouraging to see a great turnout of students but we were really pleased to secure high calibre speakers with some really interesting industry insights.
We were also grateful to the wider membership who came along to support the night, including VIC Community of Interest Committee Convener Simone Dowie and AIFST member Amir Arjmand from Edlyn.

William Gimzewski who represents Young Professionals on our Victoria committee gave a quick overview on balancing study and industry placements. William encouraged the audience to get in touch with any programs or activities that AIFST could look into, to support the young professionals in the state. William is currently working at the Turkish Bread Factory.

Wendy Jarvis was a familiar face to many of the William Angliss students and spoke about the many different roles she had taken on during her food science career. Wendy's advice was to never say no to an opportunity as you never know where it might take you.

Dr Ramon Hall once again showed his committment and support to the Institute, juggling a 4am start to his day with overseas conference calls, exam marking and the multiple other demands on his time to join us! Dr Hall shared his phenomenal career with us including the time spent at Fonterra.

Peter Rowe was able to paint a picture for the students about an incredible career that has spanned countries and some impressive roles. Peter has worked for Cadbury, Kraft and now specialises in executive recruitment. Peter generously offered one to one advice for students that came to the evening.

Our thanks to Bronwyn and the team at William Angliss Institue for enabling the night to take place, to our wonderful speakers who gave generously of their time and their experiences and to the enthusiastic audience!
