The Australian Institute of Food Science and Technology (AIFST) is proudly running its Summer School again for 2018. Established in 2010, and running for the past 7 consecutive years, over 500 students have taken part in the AIFST Summer School which was set up to support undergraduate and post graduate students in their early careers.

 

AIFST is currently calling for Expressions of Interest (EOI) from Educational Institutes to host the 2018 AIFST Summer School. To submit your EOI, please fill out and return the form to aifst@aifst.com.au.

Zoe Doubleday is a Research Fellow at the University of Adelaide and an ecologist with a particular focus on marine and freshwater systems.
Zoe also actively researches ways to improve scientific writing to facilitate better transfer of knowledge among scientists and the broader community. She is a keen proponent of “scicomm” and always interested in new ways of getting science out there to the outside world.

Would you like to visit the only factory in Australia making gelatine? This is a unique opportunity to visit GELITA -  gelatine, collagen and collagen peptide experts. 

GELITA are hosting a bbq lunch for tour attendees that will be followed by an information session and tour of this unique factory. 

The Australian plant of the GELITA Group manufactures beef gelatine from fresh, hairy hide that is supplied by abattoirs up to 700 kilometers away.
All of the gelatine is sold as edible gelatine, some 60% being supplied to the confectionery industry, the remainder being used in jelly crystals and dairy applications.

Calling South Australian members! 

For a number of years, AIFST has taken part in Science Alive! an annual celebration of science and technology that takes place in National Science Week and attracts over 30,000 visitors to the Adelaide Showground. 

AIFST runs a busy stall with practical and hands on demonstrations about how our industry works. 

We are seeking volunteers to assist with management of the booth. Please contact shona.gawel@aifst.com.au for further information.

AIFST hosted a Humanitarian Food Science and Technology Symposium - following the AIFST Convention - on Wednesday, 19 July 2017 at ICC. This unique symposium brought together a number of experts from Australia and around the world to discuss issues related to humanitarian and emergency feeding.
