AIFST is pleased to invite you to attend the 'Connecting Academia with Industry – getting more ready for Industry' event by RACI Vic Branch and SCI Australia Group

 

The main purpose of the event is to provide a series of forums for people from academia and industry to get together to talk about issues of relevance to both groups and to listen to a number of expert speakers talk about innovation, regulation, collaboration and education.

REGULATION: Dr Bowman of Reckitt Benckiser will address how chemicals are regulated in Australia.   Mr Vitali was formerly key technical and subject matter expert in dangerous goods and incident case investigator at WorkSafe Victoria before setting up Chemvit P/L and will talk about how chemical manufacturing and storage facilities and the transport of dangerous and hazardous goods are regulated.  Ms Fleming will discuss regulations in the food industry.

 

COLLABORATION: Dr Dagley had a long and distinguished career as CEO of the Cooperative Research Centre for Polymers before taking on his present role with the Department of Defence, Science and Technology.  He has extensive experience working with industry and academia.  Dr James actively seeks collaborative partnerships between Monash University and businesses.  The third speaker (tbc) will discuss the recent Universities Australia report:  “Clever Collaborations:  the strong business case for partnering with universities”

 

EDUCATION: The speakers will talk about how general and specialist chemistry and chemical engineering degree programs are shaped to prepare graduates for industry as well as academic careers.  The Education seminar will be chaired by Emeritus Professor David Wood AM, formerly Dean of Engineering and Head of Chemical Engineering at the University of Melbourne.
