Wednesday, 19 July 2017

This unique symposium brought together a number of experts from Australia and around the world to discuss issues related to humanitarian and emergency feeding. The symposium included an opening plenary session where an overview of Humanitarian Food Science and Technology was presented and the role of innovation discussed. Then followed two sessions on Innovations in Food Science and Technology, where lessons learnt on the field were discussed through case studies, followed by a number of presentations on new perspectives. The symposium concluded with a facilitated panel discussion where unanswered questions relating to challenges, opportunities and gaps in knowledge were identified and discussed.
The Symposium involved over 50 delegates who work in humanitarian and emergency activities in NGOs, governments, academia, research institutes and the private sector as well as a range of interested food science and technology professionals.
