The AIFST Convention is the premier food industry event in Australia. This year the Convention will be held on September 11-12 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. The Convention will once again bring together industry professionals of the food industry in one exciting location.

The four concurrent streams across the two-day convention will focus on the key areas of:

The 'What are you doing about…?' stream includes sessions on managing food waste, food fraud and bridging the gap with Agriculture.

3. Innovation Workshop

Angeline Achariya from Monash Food Innovation Centre will be hosting the Best Practice Innovation, Culture and Ideation workshop (session 2.1).


Intrapreneurship is one of the leading skills that future employers are seeking. This workshop will focus on the behaviours necessary to be an intrapreneur and guide you through how to do this within your organisation.

4. Ask the Experts Lounge

AIFST is launching the Ask the Experts Lounge at the 2018 Convention. The lounge will be open from 10.30am – 3.30pm daily and will host a range of food industry experts to meet with convention delegates seeking solutions or business services.

5. Awards

The AIFST Annual Awards are an important part of the 2018 AIFST Convention in recognising the commitment, achievements and excellence of our members. 

This year, AIFST will be introducing two new awards: 

  • AIFST Foodbank Hunger Hero Award
  • The AIFST Julie Newlands Allergen Bureau Award
