Evaluation of Country of Origin Labelling for Food - consultation open until 11 September

2 Aug 2020 8:22 PM | Anonymous

The Australian Government committed to evaluate the 2016 CoOL reforms in 2020-21, two years following the regulations for food coming into full-effect in July 2018. The purpose of the CoOL reforms was to help consumers make more informed choices about the food they buy, in line with their personal preferences. Accordingly, the reforms aimed to provide clearer, more consistent, more informative and easier to find country of origin labels for food.

The evaluation will gather information and feedback from the community and industry through surveys, interviews and focus groups. To commence this process, DISER has developed a Discussion Paper and is undertaking a public consultation process to seek the views of consumers and businesses on the impact of the reforms. If you are interested in finding out more about the consultation, or would like to make a submission, please visit DISER’s Consultation Hub for more information. You will have from 31 July 2020 until 11 September 2020 to participate in this initial round of consultation.
