42nd Annual Australian Institute of Food Science Technology Convention 2009

The 42nd Annual AIFST Convention

held 13-16 July 2009 in Brisbane, attracted 450 plus delegates, the Presidents from IFT, NZIFST, SIFST, CIFST and SAAFoST, and also 18 overseas speakers, including Dr Prakash, President IAFoST, whose attendance was supported by IUFoST - a truly international gathering! Delegates had the opportunity to attend some 70 presentations, and hear from the speakers who covered an impressive range of  “crunching” issues. Our thanks go to our many sponsors, especially the Queensland Government, and to the 40 exhibitors who put on such a great display.
Held during the Convention were the Annual General Meeting, and the announcement and presentation of the Institute’s Awards.

New Executive team announced

At the AGM breakfast, which was attended by 60 members, Dr Michael Eyles was inaugurated as the AIFST President 2009-2011. It was also announced that the President Elect is Jo Davey, and the Honorary General Treasurer is Alan Mortimer. The other Office Bearers are Immediate Past President Peter Lancaster, Public Officer Ken Buckle, Executive Councillor Brenda Mossel, and Mel Malloch Executive Manager. Outgoing members, Ken Grice and Richard Mason, were thanked for their invaluable input into the Institute.
