$5 million boost to unlock Australia’s science potential

Minister for Science and Research, Senator Chris Evans, announced the first Inspiring Australia; Unlocking Australia’s Potential competitive grants round. Organisations and individuals across Australia who help build the community’s understanding of science can now apply for a share of $5 million in funding to support their work.

Chief Scientist for Australia to judge nation-wide critical thinking competition

Australians of all ages are invited to create 3-5 minute videos presenting an argument on one of four topics that include: Genetically modified crops – should farmers be able to grow them? Nanoparticles –should their inclusion be stopped until their safety is assured? The aim of the competition is to improve the critical thinking skills of Australians.
