Food safety needs to be tested all along the supply chain from the growers to the supermarket shelves.
Your area of responsibility would include checking for misleading statements on packaging, testing for allergens, toxins, trace metals or pathogens and overseeing product recalls. You could also identify emerging food safety issues and develop new tools like predictive microbiology and faster high quality testing methods.
You may work for a food company designing and implementing food safety plans within the plant by reviewing all processes and process flow diagrams. You could be conducting Risk Analysis, constructing Audit Tables and reviewing all Hazard Analysis Support Programmes.
Or you may work as an auditor with a large range of clients, travelling extensively in multiple food sectors and testing food safety in a variety of food processing plants.
