The international market for food is huge and food requirements of different countries vary tremendously. The industry needs people with good food technology skills who know the market to make sure that quarantine, regulatory and labelling requirements are followed for both import and export of foodstuffs.

It will be your job to make sure that the raw materials or ingredients your company imports comply with Australian regulations and that the food products you export comply with the regulations of the receiving country.

You will present products for inspection by the Quarantine Service, make sure that labelling is correct and that the levels of heavy metals, preservatives, artificial sweeteners, toxins and chemical residues aren’t above permitted levels.
You could even end up working for the World Health Organisation or the European Union!
