The 45th Annual Convention: Reaping the Rewards

The AIFST National Convention is held annually, and is the major national food technology conference in Australia, attracting industry, research and government organisations from Australia and overseas.

In 2012, the convention will be held in Adelaide, with the theme: Reaping the Rewards. As society in Australia and internationally ‘reaps the rewards’ of food science and technology, Australian food technologists should also ‘reap the rewards’ in our profession.

The focus is on the challenges associated with maximising the potential of scientific, technological, societal, legal, regulatory and marketing developments and innovations, within topical aspects of food production such as:

  1. Technology and innovation – how do they direct future directions within the food industry?
  2. Prebiotics, Probiotics and Health – new science, new product development opportunities
  3. Genetically modified foods – is the time right; can consumers embrace GM foods?
  4. Food safety – future evolution of management and regulatory protocols
  5. Research – is there a food future without R&D?
